Baycliff Caulfeild

Baycliff Caulfeild is a bioclastic carboniferous limestone quarried on the outskirts of Ulverston in Cumbria. It is a buff coloured limestone with light coffee mottling.

Unusually for a limestone, as it has a porosity of less than 5%, Baycliff Caulfeild is classified as a “hard limestone” and its extremely low porosity provides a low maintenance solution compared to other limestones and sandstones. As an extremely hard limestone, Baycliff Caulfeild scores the highest possible categorisation of abrasion resistance making it suitable for use in projects with high levels of traffic, such as airport terminals and shopping malls.

Available in honed, polished, sanded,  flame textured, and grit blasted finishes. Baycliff Caulfield limestone is a versatile material, used by architects and designers to create distinctive, durable floors, interior fittings and paving of great character.
